NASHVILLE, Tenn. – During its basketball games on Saturday with Alabama-Huntsville, Trevecca’s athletic department will honor a soccer team and rally support for a former Trojan soccer player. During the halftime portion of the men’s basketball game, fans will get to celebrate the historic season just completed by the women’s soccer team and show support for former Trojan soccer player Hayden Coffman, who is embarking on a professional soccer opportunity rooted in mission work.
Coffman, one of the best to ever wear the purple and white, is seeking to be a part of the Charlotte Eagles and the Missionary Athletes International Mission Tour, and the athletic department is asking you to help. Missionary Athletes International operates the Charlotte Eagles, a men’s professional soccer franchise which competes in the Pro League of the United Soccer Leagues, with a vision of sports ministry through the platform of soccer. The group’s ministry opportunities range from professional matches in front of thousands to running camps and clinics for local kids to helping serve in slums and orphanages.

At halftime of the men’s game Coffman and the 2012 Trevecca women’s soccer team will be recognized. The women’s soccer team, with whom Coffman worked with this fall, just completed its most successful season, winning the G-MAC regular season and conference tournament and then winning the NCCAA Mid-East Region to advance to the NCCAA Championships. Once there they set the tournament on its head by upsetting the top-seeded team in the quarterfinals.

He will also get the unique opportunity to travel to Thailand and Vietnam, serving as the Eagles’ only goalkeeper. The team will play in two professional tournaments and will train and compete with Thailand’s top pro clubs.
If you feel led to be part of Hayden’s support team—through a contribution or through prayer--, please participate on Saturday or contact the Trevecca athletic department. You may also contact Hayden directly at email@example.com. Hayden currently serves as the graduate assistant for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams.
