On February 9, 2013 in the Wakefield Fine Arts auditorium at 7:00 p.m. Brenda Miller Martin, a 1979 graduate of TNU will present a recital in tribute to her mother, Martha Evelyn Cockrell Robinson, who passed away in March of 2011. Martha attended Trevecca in the late 1940‘s and early 1950’s and returned in 1995 to receive an associate degree. During Martha’s time at Trevecca, she was involved in the music club, the Trevecca orchestra, and various other campus organizations. Martha also worked as a departmental assistant on campus for many years. She was an avid supporter of the arts, and instilled this love of arts in her children. She was also a loyal supporter of Trevecca and of Christian higher education, and worked hard to made it possible for Brenda to attend Trevecca. Brenda is an Associate Professor of Music at Point Loma Nazarene University, and has taught in Nazarene higher education for many years. Collaborating on the recital with Brenda will be her brother, Brady Miller, hornist. The recital will include solo piano works by Mendelssohn, Debussy and Liszt, several original hymn arrangements, and a sonata for horn and piano by Alec Wilder. Donations to the Trevecca Music Department in Martha’s memory are welcome.
