Trevecca Nazarene University

Middle Tennessee’s first degree-completion program still growing

When Trevecca Nazarene University launched its first degree-completion program for adult students, the Management and Human Relations Program (MHR), in 1987, that program was the first of its kind in Middle Tennessee and one of the first in the South. Since its start, MHR Program has experienced significant success and enrollment growth with record-breaking growth during the last two years.

The spring 2013 enrollment numbers are 30% higher than the 2011 numbers. Enrollment numbers indicate that this year will be MHR’s best since the 2007-2008 school year.

Currently MHR is offered on the Trevecca campus, in an online format, and in three other Tennessee cities: Tullahoma, on the campus of Motlow State Community College, since 2001; Columbia, on the campus of Columbia State Community College, since 2001; and Gallatin, on the campus of VolState Community College, since 1997.  Trevecca is working with Jackson State Community College in Jackson, Tenn., to bring the MHR Program to Jackson. Plans are being made to take the MHR Program to southeastern Tennessee later this year.

By the fall of 2013, the plan is for the MHR Program to be available in five locations and on the Trevecca campus. The addition of two new off-campus sites should result in greater enrollment numbers for MHR.

In February of 2013, the MHR Program went online with its first fully online cohort of students. With the program online, MHR is now available to adult students from any location.

The MHR Program is an accelerated degree-completion program for working adults. The program, which can be completed in 13 months, has helped several thousand Tennesseans improve their lives and achieve greater employment satisfaction. Many MHR graduates have pursued graduate studies after completing the program.
