They came from 11 states. They came in church groups. They came by couples. Some came alone, but they soon were welcomed by old friends. They enjoyed warm fellowship around breakfast and lunch tables. They came early and stayed until the end, and they enjoyed seeing old friends again. The Trevecca Legacy Partners Fall Celebration at Trevecca was the reason for the gathering.

Approximately 500 persons registered for this fourth Legacy Partners Fall Celebration at Trevecca on Friday, October 18. Planned as a special day for senior adults, this event drew participants from 11 states—Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, and West Virginia. Nineteen Churches of the Nazarene sent groups, and one group came from West Franklin Baptist Church.

The day featured special music by the Hoppers, a family of gospel musicians (pictured below) interspersed with presentations by Trevecca president Dan Boone, hosts Moody and Nina Gunter, and Trevecca alumnus John Gillespie (photo above). Trevecca’s Gospel Choir sang two songs during the day, and Trevecca traveling music ensemble Awaken performed also. The day included a continental breakfast and a full lunch.

Next year’s Legacy Partners Fall Celebration will take place on October 17, 2014, and registration will be open online in January of 2014.

A similar event is planned for early 2014. The Trevecca Celebration will take place in Lakeland, Florida, on February 7, 2014, at the Highland Park Church of the Nazarene. Patterned after the popular Legacy Partners Fall Celebration, this event will feature many of the popular components of the fall event and will cost only $25. Guest musicians will be the Collingsworth Family. Reservations for that event can be made at this link.
