On Saturday, January 18, Trevecca students will join students from Vanderbilt, Belmont, Lipscomb, Fisk, and TSU for the MLK Joint Day of Service. This year is the first time these universities have worked together to give volunteer service in Nashville. More than 300 volunteers have registered to be part of this event, filling all available spots. However, students can sign up here to be put on the waiting list for any spots that open. The event runs from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and students will be put on teams to work on projects for local agencies: painting a mural at Hadley Park Community Center, sorting medical supplies at Project C.U.R.E., helping the Christian Women's Job Corps of Middle TN move to its new location, painting McKissack Middle School, and sorting food at Second Harvest Food Bank.
Hosted in partnership with Metro Parks, the Nashville Fire Department, and Mayor Karl Dean’s Impact Nashville initiative, the event is one of many taking place this weekend in order to honor Martin Luther King Jr. with service. For more information about the event, click here.
