Trevecca Nazarene University celebrated its new partnership with Jackson State Community College (JSCC) in Jackson, Tennessee, when the two institutions participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 15, at 4 PM, at the JSCC McWherter Center. Through an articulation agreement between Trevecca and JSCC, signed in February 2013, Trevecca now offers its Management and Human Relations Program (MHR) on the campus of JSCC; the MHR Program is designed to help working adults complete a bachelor’s degree in 13 months with class on one night per week. Through this Trevecca-JSCC partnership, students can complete their associate degree at JSCC and continue their studies with Trevecca to complete a bachelor’s degree—without leaving the Jackson area.
Representatives from both institutions participated: Julie Rigsby, director of enrollment management for Trevecca’s College of Lifelong Learning; Lance Sherer, the West-Tennessee site coordinator for Trevecca; Bobby Smith, interim vice president of academic affairs for JSCC; and Terri Messer, dean of the School of Business and Industrial Technology at JSCC. In addition, members of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce and representatives from the Jackson business community will be present to give support to this new addition to the Jackson community.
From 3 to 6 PM, on Thursday, May 15, JSCC also hosted an open house, also in the JSCC McWherter Center, for the purpose of celebrating the joint partnership of offering students an opportunity of a fast track program for a quick and convenient method for students to complete a four-year degree on the JSCC campus. Prospective students will have an opportunity to see the facility and meet with faculty members.
