"I love working with students but I have found that my favorite part of my job is the technical. The aspect of being the first to put my hands on new books really excites me. My education at Trevecca is serving and will continue to serve me very well. I have felt totally prepared to do my job. I don't think I could have been any more prepared! Thanks for everything,"

A Student's Experience
"Mrs. Bivens,
"At the start-of-school experience at Crockett Elementary, we had to go to a technology [session] on the SmartBoard® for professional development. The instructor told participants not to feel threatened by new teachers who might know more technology than they did. She said that more than likely they don't and that they have no idea how to run a SmartBoard® either. My cooperating teacher suggested that the instructor ask a new, up and coming teacher because “she is sitting right here.” I politely said that the school that I attended requires [its students] to be familiar with technology and able to run a SmartBoard® and PowerPoint and that I was able to use SmartBoard®. The instructor asked, “What school are you from?” I told her Trevecca, and she said, “Trevecca is not the norm” and that Trevecca has a wonderful program and that you [Judy Bivens] keep the technology and library and a high standard. Just thought you would like to know, Lindsay Williams"
Congratulations Dr. Judy Bivens. She has been appointed by the American Library Association Executive Board to serve on the NCATE Board of Examiners for a 3 year term.
