Selection Process /Admissions
The Ed.D program in Leadership and Professional Practice is intended for professional practitioners holding a master's degree from a regionally accredited educational institution. To begin the process of admission, the student is required to submit the following:
Application with $50.00 non-refundable fee
Two sets of official transcripts from a regionally accredited college/university with at least a masters degree of 3.4 GPA
Two recommendations from individuals who know the applicant's abilities.
DEADLINE for COMPLETED application file is February 15 each year for Summer.
Admission is based on the evaluation of the following components:
Test Score - (submit one test score) MAT, GRE, GMAT, NTE Specialty in Educational Leadership, or (SLLA) School Leaders Licensure Assessment.
Professional Experiences - 1. Resume (Follow the specified format); it may show documentation of professional administrative or successful experiences. 2. Reference forms (2) (These should attest to potential ability for success in doctoral studies, and be completed by employer, professor, or supervisor)
Interview - An individual interview will be conducted by the Admissions Committee. This time will be an opportunity to assess personal goals, oral communication skills, and ability to interact with other professionals.
Writing Sample - A critique on a specific topic will be required at the time of the personal interview. Guidelines will be provided regarding the expectations of the critique. Only electronic copies of critiques are accepted. The Trevecca computer lab will be available for applicants to use to complete this writing sample.
A new cohort group is selected in early March and begins the program in May.
Dr. George Kersey, Jr. is representing Trevecca's School of Education on a state implementation committee
for the re-design of educational leadership programs in Tennessee.. This committee is charged with implementing the State Board of Education's mandates for educational leadership program. The focus of the State Board is to increase the instructional expertise of building leaders. Candidates who are accepted into the current program in the spring and summer of 2009 will be 'grandfathered"under the provisions of existing requirements.
