Educational Leadership, Administrative Endorsement

Individuals with an education-related master's degree can complete the coursework requirement for the Beginning Administrator's License (BAL) with 21 semester hours of specified courses completed at Trevecca Nazarene University. Transfer credit from other institutions related to the administrative endorsement is not accepted. In addition to the coursework, the applicant must demonstrate one year of successfuful teaching and obtain the minimum score on the School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA) designated by the State Department of Education to be recommended for the BAL.
Beginning Administrator Licensure (BAL) for State of Tennessee
Candidates for the beginning administrator licensure (BAL) from the State of Tennessee must meet specific requirements:
  1. Complete master's degree in educational leadership
  2. Pass state-required test (School Leader Licensure Assessment - PRAXIS series 11010) with a minimum score of 156
  3. Submit a copy of test score to School of Education

Professional Administrator Licensure (PAL) for State of Tennessee

Candidates for the professional administrator licensure (PAL) from the State of Tennessee must meet specific requirements:
  1. The beginning administrator must be in his or her third year or have completed three years as a principal according to State of Tennessee Guidelines.
  2. The administrator (graduate of Trevecca) is responsible for contacting the dean of the School of Education to set up professional plan for moving from BAL to PAL.
  3. The student must submit the appropriate forms to State Department of Education.
