Trevecca's School of Education consists of faculty with strong credentials who enhance program teaching and quality. A major strength of the University unit is interdisciplinary collaboration. Within the
conceptual framework of being, knowing, and doing, the candidates are challenged to foster an abiding respect for intellectual effort, ideas, disciplinary knowledge, diversity, and professionalism. Being fully grounded in subject disciplines and pedagogy, professors model and encourage rigorous inquiry and critique that promote candidate growth and keep professors at the cutting edge of educational trends and issues.

School of Education is aware of costs of college education and legislative interest in alternatives for students with strong academic backgrounds to shorten their college experience. Trevecca recognizes several national testing programs with opportunities to earn college credit. Students may earn a total of 45 credit hours for passing test scores on subject-specific tests to assist the candidates to reach their goal of certification. CLEP and Dantes exams are offered to students who believe they have a strong background in a given academic area. Passing scores on this type of test can result in credit hours. Students who have participated in the Advanced Placement Program, while in high school will receive credit for scores of 3, 4, or 5.
