The steps must be completed within 2 weeks after registration or you will not be allowed to enroll in the course. Any requests made after this day must be approved by Internship Coordinator, Ronie McPeak and Assistant Academic Dean, Phyllis Flannery.
Follow these steps in order…
1. Sign Up for CSO
Register with Career Services Online or update your current profile as an intern. (Access via the ICE PAGE/ Services). Mark Internship as one of your Employment Needs. Construct and add a resume and cover letter to the CSO site. Set an appointment with Jan Harvey to polish up your resume, cover letter, and interviewing skills if you need help or attend one of our resume workshops offered throughout the semester.
2. Get all the Information
Make an appointment with the Internship Coordinator in Career Services or attend one of the Internship Info Sessions. You will receive a Career Internship Guidelines booklet---read it. You are responsible for everything in the booklet.
3. Complete the Learning Contract
Once you’ve interviews and secured the internship position, you must complete the official Learning Contract.
Complete sections in this order. 1. Student 2. Faculty Sponsor 3. Site Supervisor—if internship is non-paid, Site Supervisor signs page 2. NOTE: Every line of the first section (ALL phone numbers, fax numbers and email addresses) of the contract should be completed, and is your responsibility to complete. PRINT legibly. This is how Career Services gathers info to communicate with the site. When completed, bring completed contract to the Internship Coordinator for review and signature. Distribute remaining copies to those involved.
4. Register for the Course
Pick up registration approval form (aka the “Blue Slip”) from Internship Coordinator. Get Add Slip from your academic advisor. Turn in Blue Slip and Add Slip to the Academic Records office to officially register for the course.
You’re finished. Now, all you must do is to show up & do a good job at your internship site, complete the faculty sponsor’s additional requirements, and schedule an exit interview with Ronie McPeak on the dates listed on the Career Services Calendar provided.
