Career Exploration

The Office of Career Services offers personal career planning counseling. Career planning includes self-assessment, values clarification, interest inventories, exploring God’s will, researching occupations, and learning decision making skills. In making career decisions, there are three major components of the process:

  1. Self-assessment
  2. Researching academic majors and professions
  3. Making career decisions

Self-Assessment

  • MyPlan A comprehensive career planning program to help you identify your strengths and needs, and build a plan based on your personal profile. Contact Career Services for a User ID to access Discover. (615-248-1237
  • Career Key  A free service to help with career choices, career changes, career planning, job search, and choosing a college major.  
  • The Princeton Review Career Quiz  Take this 24-question quiz and have your answers analyzed to determine your interests and work style.
  • Career Development Manual  You are in charge of your career. These exercises help you create a career direction that will be compatible with your uniques skills, knowledge, personality and interests.
Researching Academic Majors and Professions

  • ***What Can I Do With This Major?***  A list of academic majors—jobs available with that major, employers who hire that major, and strategies to get a job with those employers.
