How and When to Move In

For the fall semester, the residence halls open at 8:30 A.M. on the Friday before registration day. Spring semester check-in will be announced at a later time. Students need to check in between the hours of 8:30 A.M. and 10:00 P.M. If you must arrive late, please notify the Office of Enrollment Management.

You will need to bring the following items to check-in at the residence hall:
  • $5.00 residence hall activity fee
  • health insurance information
  • automobile information to obtain a parking sticker

At check-in you will be asked to read and sign a housing contract and be given information about using phones, voicemail, etc.

Students need to provide the following:

  • $25 Residence Hall Fee: This amount is paid to the Office of Enrollment Management at the time of application and serves to reserve a space in University housing for you.
  • $5.00 Residence Hall Activity Fee: This fee is paid each semester at the time of check-in and is used for parties and get-togethers and for special projects for residence hall improvements, etc., throughout the semester.
  • Your own linens--sheets, pillow, blanket, bedspread, towels, and washcloths. (See special sizing of mattresses elsewhere in this site.)
  • Bathroom/cleaning supplies--You will need to provide cleaning supplies* (i.e., broom, small mop, cleanser, glass cleaner, toilet brush, bleach, etc.). The University provides toilet paper.

Students may wish to provide the following:

  • Computer  (The University supplies one computer line and jack to each room.)
  • Alarm clock or clock radio
  • Trash can
  • Drapes/curtains and shower curtain  (mini-blinds on windows are supplied).
  • Bed lamp
  • Fan  (mostly for white noise)
  • Carpet  (Carpet can be laid but not glued or taped down.)
  • Vacuum cleaner (Several vacuum cleaners are available for use in the residence halls, if you choose to have carpet in your room.   However, you may choose to provide your own vacuum cleaner.)

*  You may want to discuss these items with your roommate(s).
