Paul DeAngulo
Rising Senior
From uncertainty. . . to direction
“I had planned to be an aerospace engineer and to attend a state school, but those plans changed following a conversation I had with a friend, who talked about his problems at home and then voiced his doubts about God. We concluded that conversation with my praying for him. After I left him, I felt an overwhelming peace and the awareness that I had found what I needed to give my life to—some kind of ministry.
“My pastor helped me determine that Trevecca would prepare me well for a career in ministry. When I came here, I was not sure about God’s exact plan for me. I admit that I felt kind of unsettled about my place in God’s will, but through my studies God has been affirming his plan for me.
“At this point I sense a strong pull toward the military chaplaincy and am looking forward to fulfilling God’s plan for me in that ministry.”
Paul was an honor student in his high school in Gastonia, North Carolina, and came to Trevecca with Advanced Placements credits. Pursuing a major in religion and a minor in pastoral ministry, Paul still finds time to be involved in campus life. This year he has been a member of the Madrigalians musical ensemble, the vice president of the Environmental Sustainability Association, and he was vice president of the Residence Hall Association last year. In his freshman year he served as the freshman class representative in the Student Government Association and later served on a summer ministry team. Additionally, he performed in this year’s production of Oklahoma and in Annie, Get Your Gun last year.
