From announcer...To professor of communication

“I didn’t decide to major in mass communication until late in my junior year at Trevecca, but my professors helped me get an internship with a new TV station as an announcer and producer of Trevecca basketball games. Little did I know then that years later my six months of experience would be instrumental in helping me land a faculty position at Illinois State University. From that post I am able to minister in the mission field of the secular university.” 

Since graduating from Trevecca, Stephen earned a master’s and a Ph.D. A Fulbright Scholar, he has published numerous research articles and has written two textbooks. Stephen currently edits the scholarly journal Mass Communication and Society. He and his wife, the Rev. Kay Lynn Perry, have helped start two churches. Perry is also an elected member of the public school board in Bloomington, Illinois.
