October 31 and November 1, 2, 7, 8, 9

This fall, Trevecca Nazarene University presents the exuberant, high-energy family musical, HONK!winner of the prestigious Olivier Award (the British equivalent to Broadway’s Tony Award for Best Musical).  From the show-stopping opening song, “A Poultry Tale,” this enchanting comedy lovingly brings to life the familiar tale of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling in a way that identifies with people of all ages.  Be sure to purchase tickets early this fall before performances sell out for this crowd-pleaser.

February 6, 7, 8 and 13, 14, 15

Marlowe’s celebrated adaptation of the legendary Faust story about a man who sells his soul to the devil for power and knowledge is as relevant today as it was 400 years ago—a dire cautionary tale for all time.  Trevecca’s production will re-imagine the jarring theological tale in the United States during the late 20th century.  Like Icarus who flies too close to the sun, Faustus quintessentially illustrates the lasting devastation of self-preserving ambition and delusions of self-sovereignty.

March 27, 28, 29

The title for this unique weekend of student-directed, one-act plays springs from Act 5, scene 1 of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, in which Theseus selects Peter Quince’s unseasoned troupe of players to perform Pyramus and Thisbe before the court.  In the spirit of exploring new ideas through shorter dramatic forms, each of these brief plays will seek to engage and satisfy audiences who have not yet experienced this kind of creative work.

April 24 and 25

The final performance of the ‘13-’14 season is a collection of original, ten-minute one-act plays written by students of Trevecca’s playwriting workshops and representing various topics and themes. These pieces, acted by students as well, will be shaped and presented in the form of staged readings, rather than full productions.  We hope you'll join us for this rare opportunity to support and encourage some of the inventive new work of our student playwrights.
