Overall responsibility

The A/V Events Coordinator performs technical and logistical services that include planning and executing on campus and private AVL (Audio, Video and Lighting) events. This includes managing the campus event calendar, event spaces, student employees, and employees that are contracted directly by the university or by a third-party production company. The position will also provide recommendations to IT and Campus leadership on event space and event production equipment maintenance and upgrades. The Audio-Visual Events Coordinator is a regular full-time 12-month position which reports to the Director of Client Services.

Key areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate with the Campus Events Coordinator, Chaplin, Student Life Coordinator and other campus entities on event requests providing solutions using campus equipment, personnel and spaces and recommendations for rental equipment and contract personnel as needed to support campus events with a high degree of customer service and value.
  • Follow up with any AV issues that clients experience
  • Recruit, train and utilize student workers for chapel services and other campus events.
  • Coordinate AV event requests to plan, and execute various large and small events including but not limited to:
    • Admission Events
    • Campus Life Events
    • External Client Events
    • Chapel Production
  • Inform, educate, and consult for campus event equipment maintenance, purchase and rental requests:
    • Installed and Mobile Audio Production Systems
    • Installed and Mobile Lighting Systems
    • Installed and Mobile Video and Broadcast Systems (Cameras, Projection, LED Wall and LCDs)
    • Staging and Rigging
  • Provide inventory updates and changes to internal inventory database.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; attending continuing education courses; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks and benchmarking state-of-the-art practices.

  • CIO and other ITS Department Employees
  • Campus Events Coordinator, Chaplin, Student Life Coordinator and other campus entities
  • TNU Faculty, Staff, Administrators, and Students
  • Vendors

  • Excellent oral and written communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Advanced knowledge of common AV equipment and techniques
  • Experience installing, testing, upgrading, and supporting Audio Visual equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve Audio Visual issues, either independently or with help from vendor
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
  • Ability to patiently and adequately explain technical concepts to non-technical users
  • Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job
