Trevecca was a part of my story long before I was even born.

In 1947, Mattie Burrell and Nelson Goodlett—my grandparents—both attended what was then Trevecca Nazarene College. My grandpa was studying to be a pastor and had just transferred to TNC from Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky., after he met my grandma. They got married, and, for the next 67 years, they were inseparable until my grandma passed away five years ago.

At 94 years old, my grandpa still loves telling stories and reliving his days at Trevecca.

After growing up hearing hundreds of stories about Trevecca and knowing that I loved Nashville, I decided that Trevecca was the right college for me. It’s a  decision I have never once regretted.

Trevecca has given me opportunities that I never would have had otherwise, both as a student and as an alumnus. My career and relationships have been inextricably tied to Trevecca.

When I first started my video production company, Trevecca was one of my first clients. Now several years later, that video production company has grown into a full, digital-marketing agency, and I have the privilege of working with Trevecca’s marketing department, developing ways for the University to stay better connected with alumni. (You may not know this, but we have an Alumni Facebook page that we update regularly and also occasionally give away free Trevecca swag! I’d would love for you to “like” and follow the page so that we can do a better job of keeping in touch with you.)

Most importantly, I met my wife and made lifelong friends during my time at Trevecca. Trevecca has played a huge role in my life, and, if you’re reading this article, there’s a good chance that the University has played a huge role in your life as well.

I love my Trevecca memories, but I’m glad that it’s not just a part of my past. I believe that this wonderful place will continue to be a huge part of my life for years to come.
