The Department of Communication Studies continues its 2021-2022 theatre season theme, Season 180°, about trading places and walking in someone else’s shoes. Every show this season, each in their own unique way, focuses on an adaptation of a story in which characters’ lives are flipped and understanding is opened!

202203_THEATRE_IMG_Life-is-a-Dream_WEB_v02This month, March 18-27, we proudly present LIFE IS A DREAM—a unique, in-the-round, immersive theatre experience. On the heels of Shakespeare, during the Spanish Golden Age, Pedro Calderón de la Barca brilliantly captured some of the most profound questions of life through his stories onstage. We inaugurate the spring with one of Calderón’s most well-known and frequently anthologized works—a stunning, perception-shifting tale that’s been translated by scores of writers over the years. Experience the very best this work has to offer in a beautiful rendition by recent Pulitzer Prize-winner Nilo Cruz, who edits and transforms the dialogue into something rich and immensely accessible for modern audiences using a language as strikingly beautiful as the original Spanish text. And bring some tissue!

LIFE IS A DREAM runs at Trevecca Nazarene University March 18-27 at the times listed below. All performances take place at Benson Theatre in McClurkan Hall on Trevecca’s campus. General admission tickets are $10, and Trevecca students with ID are only $3. This show is not recommended for children under the age of 10. To reserve your tickets, call 615-248-1370, email theatre@trevecca.edu, or purchase passes online here.

Per our current campus policy, masks and vaccinations against COVID-19 are highly recommended, but not required.
