Biography
Matthew serves as the Director of Instrumental Studies at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN. Before this position, Murdock instructed at Cathedral High School and DeKalb Central Schools in Indiana. His area of research focuses on jazz interpretation/improvisation, and he is an active presenter/clinician. In addition, he sponsors student research in the area of World and Music Culture.Matthew is active as a recitalist and free-lance musician in Nashville, TN. He has worked with such noted performers Nelson Rangell, Duffy Jackson, Martin Short, Michael Davis, Ernie Watts, Bob Mintzer, Diana Reeves, John Fedchock, Carl Saunders, Dick Oates, Bobby Shew, Dennis DeBlasio, Bill Watrous, Nancy Wilson, Rufus Reid, Jack Sheldon and Rich Little. In addition, he regularly arranges for jazz ensemble, chamber music and commercial horn arrangements.
