Penney is a full-time professor in the School of Education where she is the curriculum coordinator for their online graduate programs. She also serves as Chair of the English Second Language Program and Chair of the Curriculum and Online Teaching Program. During her career as a high school math teacher, she earned a Master of Education in Secondary Education from Valdosta State University, and her doctorate in instructional technology and distance education from Nova Southeastern University. Before coming to Trevecca, she worked at Indiana Wesleyan University and taught classes for them in Beijing two different summers. Penney works alongside her husband, who is a minister in the Church of the Nazarene. They have five children who all graduated from Trevecca.
