Overview

The Office of Global Engagement serves to provide international student services, facilitate global experience opportunities for Trevecca students, and maintain global partnerships. The Graduate Assistant will work to ensure that the Office of Global Engagement provides fast and comprehensive customer service to the university’s international students, study abroad students, and their families.

Candidates interested in higher education student support services, international student services, study abroad, student affairs, international education, counseling, and leadership are encouraged to apply.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Acceptance into one of Trevecca’s masters level degree programs for the 2022-2023 Academic Year (excludes Physician Assistant, MSM)

Qualifications / Preferred Skills

Cross-cultural sensitivity is required. Previous participation in an education abroad program or international experience is preferred. Must have excellent interpersonal skills; communication, presentation, organizational, and time-management skills. Experience with social media platforms is desirable. U.S. citizen or permanent resident status (federal requirement for Designated School Officials) is required.

Duties

  • Assist with the development and implementation of programs and activities for welcoming and integrating international students in the campus community: planning and marketing, Walmart and airport shuttle services, workshop and information session planning and delivery, campus orientations/open houses, and study abroad outreach.
  • Generate, edit, publish, and share relevant content across social media and through bi-weekly newsletters.
  • Perform tasks necessary to maintain smooth office operations, forms and procedures, and the daily workflow.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of programming for International Education Week.
  • Serve as Designated School Official (DSO) for Trevecca Nazarene University.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Expectations

  • Will maintain effective and efficient communication with the Office of Global Engagement as well as the Student Success staff.
  • Will maintain a stable 20-hour weekly work schedule. Time off and schedule adjustments require advanced approval. Estimated schedule will fall within an 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday work week but must be flexible to accommodate for work outside of normal business hours and/or on weekends as needed.
  • Will evidence Trevecca Nazarene University Community Commitments, Mission, and statement of Values in his/her actions and interaction within the Trevecca Community.
  • Will respect and adhere to student privacy at all times, which will require FERPA and HIPPA training

Compensation: On campus housing provided (if available), $1000 monthly stipend, 20 hours per week, and tuition remission.
