Trevecca Nazarene University seeks a strong Christian leader for the Dean for the Dean for the School of STEM and Health Sciences position. The Dean’s primary objectives are to model and achieve innovative leadership, strategic vision, enrollment growth, strong budget management, and entrepreneurial curricular and academic development.
Trevecca’s School of STEM and Health Sciences is mission-critical, and represents a significant strategic investment by the university, including the addition of a new Health Sciences building constructed in 2022. The University is located in the thriving city of Nashville, TN, and has the longest-running Physician Assistant (PA) program in the state.
The successful candidate will lead the newly organized school that contains all STEM and Health Sciences programs. The Dean will report directly to the Provost and Senior Vice President and will work collaboratively with faculty and staff to advance the University mission.
Qualifications
A strong Christian testimony and an unwavering commitment to Christ-centered teaching and learning; An earned doctorate in the STEM or Healthcare fields from a regionally accredited institution with a combination of academic scholarship and/or professional achievement sufficient to support a faculty appointment at the level of Professor.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as strategic leader for the School of STEM and Health Sciences:
- Collaboratively formulate short-range and long-range goals for the School that are consistent with the mission of the university.
- Become data-informed to develop a growth strategy for current programs, new programs, quality enhancement, improved student experience, new delivery methods for education, retention, etc.
- Work with the marketing and enrollment teams to sustain a high-performing growth culture.
- Network with Nashville businesses and organizations to fundraise and create new educational opportunities.
- Represent and promote all programs to individuals and groups outside of the Trevecca community.
- Recommend new traditional and non-traditional programs in collaboration with faculty and university leaders.
- Collaborate with university officials to launch new graduate program opportunities in the STEM and Health Sciences areas.
- Inform and advise the university provost about all aspects of the School.
- Provide leadership for the department chairs for each division (STEM and Health Sciences).
- Represent the university by participating in appropriate professional organizations at national, state, and local levels.
- Recommend to the university provost all personnel for employment hired by the University for positions in the STEM and Health Sciences areas (while maintaining good institutional fit).
- Monitor faculty and staff evaluations.
- Oversee the recruitment, selection, approval, evaluation, and development of course instructors for all programs on-campus and at all off-campus locations, including elective courses.
- Allocate and manage instructor course assignments, contracts, and pay.
- Ensure programs are conducted according to the policies of the University, SACSCOC, and other accrediting bodies and government regulations.
- Provide critical oversight for pursuing accreditation for new programs and maintaining accreditation for existing programs.
- Consistently communicate with university administration about accreditation processes and status among school programs, advocating for the necessary institutional support for accreditation maintenance.
- Serve as a member of the Academic Council and participate in other committees as assigned.
- Ensure appropriate course syllabi are on file for each course and every instructor.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the university provost.
