The JV Morsch Center for Social Justice (CSJ) invites you to join an exciting event that aims to engage African American students, grades 8th to 12th, to become involved in changing their community in a positive way. The CSJ and local A. R. T. Project have partnered to present the “Youth About Change” Teen Summit 2017. The event will be January 16, 2017, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, at the Trevecca Community Church on the campus of Trevecca Nazarene University. “Youth About Change” Teen Summit is designed to connect like-minded youth to accomplish:
- Educate youth on the importance and impact of community activism and organizing,
- Equipping the youth with tools to plan and implement events within their community,
- Empowering our youth to be agents of change in their community.
This day will be filled with learning, entertainment, building of long-term relationships, and FUN! Participants will also have the opportunity to show their talent at the “Youth About Change” Teen Summit Talent Showcase at the end of the day. The event is 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided. All students must be registered for the event.
