Trevecca joins Common App to help streamline application process

Applying for college is a time-honored rite of passage, and, this year, Trevecca is making the process a little easier for prospective students. The University has joined the Common App, a platform designed to streamline the college application process for students.

Used by more than a million applicants, teachers and counselors each year, Common App allows students applying to multiple colleges to submit a single, online application rather than filling out each institution’s application separately.

“Common App is a time-saver for prospective students who are applying to multiple colleges,” said Melinda Miller, Trevecca executive director of undergraduate admissions. “Prospective students applying to multiple schools can complete the Common App one time, then easily select multiple universities to receive their application. Prospective students can also use the Common App platform to view profiles of various universities in which they are interested.”

Trevecca joins more than 900 colleges and universities as a Common App member institution. In addition to streamlining the college application process, the platform also provides 24/7 support to applicants and connects them with information about financial aid, scholarships, virtual fairs and more.

By becoming a member institution, Trevecca can reach a wider audience of prospective students, Miller said.

“With more than a million applicants from around the world using the Common App, we’ll be able to engage students who may not be as familiar with Trevecca or even have considered applying,” Miller said. “We’re excited for the opportunity to introduce more students to the University and the Trevecca experience.”

While the Common App will benefit students applying to multiple colleges, those primarily interested in applying to Trevecca may prefer to apply directly to the University through the traditional application, available at

“Both the Trevecca app and the Common App are free, but the Trevecca app is shorter than the Common App,” Miller said. “Also, whether applicants apply to Trevecca using the traditional app or the Common App, they will need to create a Trevecca username or password to check their application status.”

The Common App opened on Aug. 1, while Trevecca’s traditional app opened on July 1.

Students can build a Common App account and access resources at Counselors can use Common App Ready, a complete toolkit of tips and best practices designed to help introduce families and students to the college application process.
