For students and their families, Commencement is a milestone moment, an occasion not soon forgotten. For the greater Trevecca community, Commencement is a vital part of the life of the University, a celebration we look forward to each spring.

Community is at the core of the Trevecca experience, and Commencement displays that core value like no other campus event. This singular experience is a time when the Trevecca community—graduates and their families, faculty and staff, alumni and friends—can join together to celebrate.

Class of 2020, we want to have the chance to celebrate with you and your families—to commemorate all that you’ve achieved and all the ways you’ll make our world a better place.

While we can’t celebrate together in the same way this year, Trevecca officials want to make sure that our 2020 graduates feel cherished, honored and celebrated by the greater Trevecca community. Our plans to celebrate Trevecca's December 2019 and 2020 graduates include:

  • Virtual Conferral Ceremony
Trevecca will hold a virtual Conferral Ceremony on May 16 at 10 a.m. CDT. Students and their families can watch on Facebook and via livestream. Dr. Dan Boone, Trevecca president, and Dr. Tom Middendorf, University provost, as well as other Trevecca personnel will participate in the event, which will focus on encouraging, celebrating and speaking blessing over Trevecca’s 2020 graduates. This ceremony will include December 2019 graduates as well as 2020 graduates. During the ceremony, Dr. Boone will confer degrees upon the graduates. For students whose degrees are conferred in May and have no holds on their accounts, Academic Records will mail diplomas in June.

If students ordered regalia for pickup from the Campus Store, it will be mailed to your home address with the exception of regalia for doctoral programs. Graduates in these programs will receive information about regalia after their hooding ceremonies are scheduled. All questions regarding regalia should be emailed to Holly Steinmetz at: hsteinmetz@trevecca.edu. We are encouraging students to wear their regalia during the May 16 Conferral Ceremony.

  • Fall Commencement Celebration
Trevecca will invite 2020 graduates and their friends and families to a Commencement Celebration held on campus during Homecoming 2020. Set for Nov. 6-7, Homecoming 2020 will be the perfect time to gather as a community and celebrate all our December 2019 and 2020 graduates have achieved and all the things they will achieve in the future. This will be a chance for graduates to don their regalia and get that coveted photo with Dr. Boone!

  • Fall Hooding Ceremonies
Trevecca officials are working on plans to schedule fall ceremonies to honor the achievements of our master’s and doctoral students as well as the support and sacrifices of their friends and families as our graduates pursued their educational and professional goals. More information will be announced as details become available.

  • Celebrate the Class of 2020
We’re asking that you wear purple on May 2 in support of the Class of 2020.

Stay tuned for updates and more detailed information in the days and weeks to come. For the most up-to-date information, visit Trevecca.edu/Commencement. Please keep in mind that all planned events are subject to change based on federal and state COVID-19 regulations and recommendations.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created so much upheaval in our world, but it can’t take away the joy and pride we feel when we think about our 2020 graduates. You are our greatest gift to the world, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for each of you!

While our celebration may look a little different this year, remember that celebration can’t be bound by time or space. Wherever you are, we celebrate you. Class of 2020, we’re proud of you!
