Layla Bonner is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) Counselor with more than 12 years of professional experience. She earned a Masters degree in Counseling from the University of Georgia and is currently pursuing the Ph.D. in Clinical Counseling here at Trevecca. She is also working towards licensure as a Marriage and Family therapist. Layla is certified in the Prepare and Enrich premarital counseling curriculum. She also teaches Psychology courses at various colleges/universities. Her undergraduate training provided her with the opportunity to study and live abroad in Costa Rica. She speaks Spanish and has also taught Spanish classes for children and adults.
Layla has worked in a number of settings. Her professional history includes work in the following settings: elementary school, middle school, high school, university settings, community settings, and mental health programs. She has extensive experience working with diverse groups and provides counseling for a number of issues including: pre-engagement, premarital, and marital or distressed couples, adjustment issues, mood/depression issues, anxiety issues, trauma, career or finding purpose, stress management, grief, spiritual, and relationship issues. She provides counseling to individuals, groups, couples, and families. Layla brings a warm presence to clients and builds the hope that he or she is not alone and can make it. She wants potential clients to know that she is here to walk alongside them to find the light in whatever their dark places might be.
