Rick has a passion for equipping leaders and organizations to create remarkable value for their stakeholders. This passion finds expression at the Skinner School of Business and Technology where he provides academic oversight of on-campus and online programs for adult students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He also teaches graduate courses on topics of leadership and strategy.

Before coming to Trevecca in 2013, Rick served as the Provost and President of Crown College (MN) as well as Professor of Leadership Studies. He also founded and led the Emerging Leaders Institute in Minneapolis, a one-year experience for 25-35 year-old high potential leaders. Earlier in his career, Rick worked for a number of years in China teaching at the university level as well as training and supervising teachers in China. For four years, he chaired an international association of colleges and universities in over 60 countries.

Rick is an ordained pastor with the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA). He has served in leadership roles as pastor, international worker, educator, and on the C&MA National Board of Directors.

Outside of his work at Trevecca, Rick also serves in the US and overseas as a part-time consultant with private colleges, universities, and other nonprofits in the areas of leadership development, strategy, and strategic planning. Rick and his wife, Cheri, enjoy adventure sports together and may be seen on a local bike path or on almost any stretch of water paddling their tandem kayak. They like to travel and are often looking for that next adventure or country to visit. Cheri serves in Mt Juliet as a nurse practitioner in a Christian clinic to the underserved. They have three married sons living in Chicago, Seattle, and Hong Kong. They have nine grandchildren.
