Overall Responsibilities
Provides support in areas of server hardware, server software, and connecting technologies. The System Administrator position will be a regular full-time 12-month yearly function which reports to the CIO.
Key Areas of Responsibility (includes, but not limited to the following)
- Work in conjunction with management, employees, students, and vendors to provide technical support in the areas of server hardware, server software, and connecting technologies to meet business needs
- Work closely with the internal IT staff, responsible for handling a queue of system support-related HelpDesk tickets while assisting with a variety of other projects
- Maintain and improve systems related to Active Directory, Group Policy, Office 365, anti-virus solution(s), database management, device/system monitoring, network printing and reporting, and web administration
- Create and maintain server systems within a VMware vSphere virtual environment
- Monitor and manage SAN and NAS shared storage
- Maintain backup system
- Upgrade systems/devices by conferring with vendors and services; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements and new software
- Audit and remediate security issues and maintain server security by applying updates and patches
- Provide secondary coverage for other Network Services team members
- Provide back-end support for ERP and electronic document management systems
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for all areas of responsibility
- Provide after-hours support as needed

- Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies
- Excellent organizational, technical and analysis skills

- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift up to 80lbs, infrequently
Education
- Computer related Bachelor’s degree or relevant certifications preferred
Experience
- Minimum two years of experience as a Systems Administrator, working specifically with Microsoft solutions
- Network, Application, and/or Desktop support experience a plus
