General Summary

The Online Learning Support Specialist will provide technical support for the online program under the direction of the Director of Online Learning. The Online Learning Support Specialist will be a regular full-time 12-month position with salary and fringe benefits established by the University. This position will serve in the role of the Blackboard administrator and online technical support, coordinating technical support and resources for students and staff through email, phone calls, and in the classroom. This position will also serve as a liaison between ITS and the CII Department for continuous improvement and governance of the LMS.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical and administrative support to the Center for Online Learning.

Provides technical support:

    • Troubleshoots calls for Blackboard and other instructional technology tools.
    • Modifies and maintains materials in course shells.
    • Assists in building content in the LMS and troubleshooting online courses.
    • Configures and supports the LMS environment.
    • Collaborates with the ITS on 3rd party integration and updates.
Provides administrative support:
  • Reviews, edits, and/or maintains documents related to online support and training.
  • Performs changes related to Blackboard configuration and enhancements and documents these changes.
  • Provides project management and administration as necessary to meet all timeline and deliverable requirements for online and on-ground courses.
  • Participates in University functions and support, as requested.

Minimal Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education technology or related field; preferably a Master’s degree in instructional design, education technology, or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience with various learning management systems
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, to include evenings and weekends as necessary
  • Experience supporting instructors and learners in an academic environment
  • Ability to create positive relationships with diverse University stakeholders across multiple fields and disciplines
