Resident Director

University Mission Statement

Trevecca Nazarene University is a Christian community providing education for leadership and service.

Qualified female candidates are encouraged to apply for the position of resident director. This is a full-time assignment beginning immediately.  Employee benefits include health insurance, an apartment provided for year-round use, dining plan for dependents living with the resident director during the time the food service is open, tuition remission for the first Master’s degree.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required.   Master’s degree preferred.  A personal relationship with Christ and a commitment to the lifestyle of the University and its theological tradition and mission.  The candidate should have a basic understanding of the developmental needs of college students and of how the residence hall environment plays a vital role in a student’s educational experience.  The candidate should possess organizational and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate well with students, to direct residence hall programs, and to follow through with administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  1. Resident Director:  The resident director is responsible for encouraging a campus climate conducive to intellectual, spiritual, social and physical development.  They will supervise resident assistants and will be involved in their training and development.  Additional responsibilities will include providing leadership to the residence hall council, counseling with residents on an informal basis within the limits of training and capability, promoting a feeling of pride for the living unit, encouraging residents to have a concern and respect for the rights and privileges of others, and serving on university councils as requested.
  2. Program Coordinator:  Assist in program development and delivery in one or more areas of need in the Center for Student Development, such as new student programs or clubs and organizations.
