Carson is an assistant professor of anatomy and physiology at Trevecca. A native of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, he is passionate about equipping future healthcare professionals through excellence in teaching, mentorship and service. He earned his Ph.D. in anatomical education from DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine at Lincoln Memorial University, where his research focused on metacognition and problem solving in medical education. His educational background and training include extensive experience in gross anatomy, cadaveric dissection, histology, neuroanatomy, embryology, educational psychology and research practices across multiple disciplines. Outside the classroom, he enjoys spending time with his wife Ashli, who is a general surgery resident, and their three dogs. He is also a Rotarian, a Myers-Briggs certified practitioner and a RYLA leadership/team development facilitator. He is grateful for the opportunity to serve at Trevecca and contribute to its mission of developing leaders who positively impact their communities through faith, service and scholarship.
Carson serves in Trevecca’s physician assistant program, where he teaches applied anatomy to first-year PA students through classroom and laboratory instruction and cadaveric dissection. His other roles include advising/mentoring students, supporting continuing professional development initiatives, overseeing anatomy laboratory operations, facilitating educational research and contributing to program development. He also teaches students in Trevecca’s nursing and undergraduate programs, and is actively involved in curriculum optimization and program expansion efforts. Through his teaching and service, he provides an engaging learning environment that encourages intellectual curiosity, professional growth and a lifelong commitment to serving others.
