Courtney was born and raised in Nashville, TN. She received her B.S. at Harding University followed by a Pharm.D. at Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy. After graduation, she taught one semester as an adjunct professor and then joined the program as a part-time professor. She continues to practice as a full-time community pharmacist in Nashville. Courtney is married to Bobby and loves to travel and spend time with her nieces and nephews.
