Penny joined Trevecca in 2023 and serves as the academic and administrative director for the Department of Nursing, providing oversight for curriculum quality, regulatory compliance, faculty development, clinical partnerships and continuous program improvement. Prior to joining Trevecca, her clinical background included the specialty areas of critical care, labor and delivery, nurse researcher, family nurse practitioner and clinical nurse educator. She has had the pleasure of working as a leader, educator and advanced practice registered nurse with expertise spanning nursing education, academic administration, curriculum development, accreditation, nursing research and quality improvement.
Throughout her career, Penny has demonstrated a commitment to building high-quality nursing programs that prepare graduates to practice with kindness and competence to positively impact the health of individuals, families and communities. As a Christian educator, she seeks to integrate faith, service and compassionate care into nursing education. She is committed to mentoring the next generation of nurses who will positively impact the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities.
In her free time, she enjoys reading, gardening, preparing for the Advent season, taking walks on the beautiful trails in Middle Tennessee and spending time with family, friends and her two dogs, Joy and Finn.
