Ryzell is a senior healthcare technology executive, educator, leadership scholar and U.S. Air Force veteran with more than 37 years of experience in healthcare. He currently serves as senior director of the Information Technology Project Management Office at Vanderbilt Health in Nashville, Tennessee, where he provides leadership for complex enterprise initiatives involving healthcare technology, patient access, organizational transformation and the patient experience.
As an adjunct professor in the Skinner School of Business at Trevecca, he teaches and develops graduate and doctoral-level coursework in healthcare leadership, cultural competence, inclusive leadership, organizational effectiveness and team dynamics.
His scholarly interests include emotional intelligence and emotional competence; leadership development; ethical leadership; cultural competence; and organizational effectiveness. His doctoral research examined the impact of participation in a leadership academy on participants’ emotional and moral competence, with particular emphasis on how leadership development can strengthen the interpersonal and ethical capabilities needed to lead effectively.
