Biography

Stephanie has a passion for teaching and thoroughly enjoys spending time with her students both inside and outside of class. She serves as a professor of mathematics, earning her undergraduate degree in mathematics from Eastern Nazarene College and her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park. Her dissertation, Forcing with Directed Families of Finite Structures, is in model theory, an area of mathematical logic. She spent many years teaching as a tenured faculty member at Marymount University in Arlington Virginia before joining the Trevecca faculty. While in the Washington D.C. area, she developed an interest in the history of mathematics which led to conducting research at the Smithsonian Institute and publications such as Cubes, Conic Sections, and Crockett Johnson. Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters and loves to read. As a missionary kid, she grew up near the Kruger National Park and especially enjoys being outside, hiking and seeing wildlife.
