Stephen has taught in higher education since 2013 and is a certified fraud examiner (CFE) with more than 25 years of professional accounting experience. He has served as a CFO at multiple organizations, worked with CPA firms and participated in forensic audit inquiries involving questions from law enforcement agencies, including the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). His professional experience spans retail, manufacturing, real estate, service, energy, nonprofit and public-sector organizations. His teaching and research interests include accounting ethics, fraud examination, forensic accounting, auditing and the factors that influence ethical decision-making. He has also owned and operated businesses in real estate investment, vending and solar energy.
Stephen values the opportunity to integrate professional experience, ethical decision-making, and Christian principles in the classroom. Beyond his professional and academic career, he possesses vast ministry experience and is a member of the Christian Business Faculty Association. He lives in Cumming, Georgia, with his wife and four daughters and enjoys church involvement, sports, camping, SEC football and the NBA.
