Dr. Wesley Furlong, Ph.D., MSW, MA, is an associate professor of social work and the MSW program leader at Trevecca Nazarene University. He brings more than two decades of practice experience across child welfare, housing, workforce and community development, and has launched nonprofits in both healthcare and housing. He currently serves as the founder and executive director of Hospitality Houses, a transitional housing nonprofit.
Dr. Furlong has extensive experience in program evaluation, specializing in practice-based evidence development, causal inference with observational data, and continuous evaluation systems that elevate stakeholder feedback. He is the author of Smart Compassion, and his recent article, The Restorative Frame (2025), proposes a new conceptual model for understanding protective factors in foster care placements and is part of a broader research agenda on placement stability and family well-being.
Wesley and his wife Bonnie have been married for 26 years, have three children and are long time foster parents.
