Finishing Well: Navigating Life
Beyond the Pastor Role
Finishing Well is a program offered through Trevecca Nazarene University’s Center for Pastoral Health, and is designed for pastors in the Southeast Field who are considering retiring or transitioning out of a pastoral role in the next few years.
For most pastors, ministry isn’t simply a job but a central part of one’s identity, social network, purpose and daily rhythm. It’s a calling, and many pastors struggle to imagine what life might be like beyond being a pastor.
Here’s some good news: If God is calling you to a new season of life, you can be assured that God desires that you flourish beyond the life of “pastor.”
Using a small group model and led by other retired pastors, Finishing Well addresses common issues that pastors face upon this major life transition:
-
Dealing with loss of identity and loss of role
-
Loneliness and social changes
-
Financial concerns and practical planning
-
Emotional and physical health
-
Discovering a new rhythm of life
Groups will meet virtually each month for up to a year. These groups will provide community and support as you give intentional time to considering what God is calling you into next. We’d love to join in your preparation and participate in equipping you!
