Environmental Science Minor

The environmental science minor gives students an introductory understanding of environmental theory, research and current environmental concerns through a Christ-centered approach. Designed for students who are passionate about science and caring for creation, this program explores scientific and social dimensions of environmental topics, helping develop interdisciplinary skills that can support a variety of career paths and graduate study opportunities.

The environmental science minor pairs classroom learning with hands-on instruction, including opportunities connected to Trevecca’s Urban Farm that many universities cannot offer.

Urban Farm

One of the most unique parts of Trevecca’s environmental science minor is the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through the University’s Urban Farm. Students can participate in a variety of sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship practices, including:

  • Caring for livestock such as goats, pigs, chickens and ducks

  • Growing produce and fruit through greenhouses and orchards

  • Practicing sustainable and regenerative agriculture methods

  • Supporting community outreach and campus food initiatives

  • Producing items such as soaps, honey, jams and other farm products

  • Participating in environmental projects and land stewardship across campus

The Urban Farm gives students practical experience that connects science, sustainability and faith in meaningful ways.
