Tim is a life fellow of Clare Hall, Cambridge University, with a degrees in music and conducting from The School of Church Music of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (DMA), Belmont University (B.M. and M.M.), Bluefield College (A.A.) and post-graduate studies at the Aspen Music Festival and Harvard University’s NEH Medieval Music Fellowship. Previously, Tim was dean of fine arts at Rhodes College (Memphis, Tenn.) and director of choral activities at Belmont University (Nashville, Tenn.)

Serving as executive director of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) for better than 13 years, Tim’s research and writing focuses pedagogically on conducting and score analysis, and his many published essays and books betray his eclectic interests in regional music history, acoustics, creativity, innovation and aesthetics.

Tim resides in Montgomery County with his wife Jane and multiple farm animals. They have one daughter, Emma.
