Trevecca's 125th Anniversary Oral History Project
Make your story an official part of Trevecca's history in a forthcoming commemorative book.

We need your help
In recognition of Trevecca’s 125th anniversary, the University is partnering with Publishing Concepts Incorporated (PCI) to gather memories and experiences from alumni that will be published in a keepsake book. This project will offer you the opportunity to share and contribute your favorite stories, memories and experiences from your time on the Hill, with hard copies available for pre-purchase immediately and scheduled to be published in summer 2027.
We’re asking alumni and friends—like you—to share their Trevecca story for this project. Your voice will co-write the anthology publication and will be archived for generations of new Trevecca alumni to view. This project isn’t a directory; rather, it’s a nonfiction project that anthologizes alumni stories for future generations.

This spring, PCI will send you emails and postcards asking you to verify your contact information. Upon doing so, you’ll have the opportunity to share your Trevecca story. A representative will be on the line to walk you through the process, confirm your consent to participate and help you preorder the book.
What to include in your Trevecca story
The information you share about your Trevecca experience is up to you, but here are some ideas to consider:

-
What kinds of relationships did you make on campus?
-
What were your favorite classes and how did they shape your life?
-
Where did you go as a student? How was the world open to you?
-
How did your Trevecca experience prepare you for the rest of your life?
-
What kind of pranks did you pull and who were the folks who had your back?
-
What activities did you enjoy as a student?
-
How did it feel to be on campus? Where was your go-to spot?
-
What surprised you at Trevecca? What was a mystery or a new discovery?
-
When you graduated, how did you feel? What did you do after college?
Frequently Asked Questions
I received an email/postcard/phone call from PCI. Is this a legitimate project, or could it be a scam?
Our program with Publishing Concepts (PCI) is legitimate. We partnered with this 100-year-old family-owned business that produces yearly publications for hundreds of colleges and universities, high schools, Greek organizations and military and veteran associations. This program allows us to receive important contact information so that we can better communicate with and serve alumni.
Here's an example of a postcard you may receive from us:

Why are you doing this project? Do you benefit from this project?
I updated my information but need some more time to think about what experience to share.
I shared a story, and the representative said I could also send a photo. How do I do this?
If you provided your email address during the call with Publishing Concepts (PCI), you will soon receive an email with a link to upload up to two photos. If you purchased a publication but did not provide an email address, you will receive a photo mailer via USPS so that you can send in physical photos to be printed. If you include a self-addressed and stamped envelope with the photos, they will be returned to you.
How can I edit my story?
In the coming weeks, you will receive an email with a link to your transcribed story so that you may make any additions or deletions before the publication is sent to press.
The person I spoke with wouldn’t take no for an answer or was impolite.
Upon completion of the data update during each call, there are a number of products offered as part of this program. Our script focuses on the three offerings that resonate with most individuals—a package of all products bundled, a smaller package with a subset of those products and just the publication. Sometimes saying “no” more than once can lead to frustration and we are trying to balance that with informing alumni about the options that may appeal to them.
Every call is recorded so we can access your conversation, review adherence to our script and identify any training opportunities. Please know that we appreciate your participation in this program. It’s vital for us to have an updated database and we wouldn’t be able to do that on our own. Partnering with Publishing Concepts (PCI) enables us to keep our records up to date as we focus our resources on the advancement of Trevecca.
Is it safe to give them my personal information?
Publishing Concepts is our trusted partner and they are also PCI DSS compliant. In simple terms, this means they are audited several times annually and your data is safe. Your data is used solely for the purpose of the publication program, and removed from their servers once they have relayed any new contact information you provided to us.
I received an email/postcard, but I never attended your school.
As part of an alumni program we are currently conducting, we are updating contact information for as many records as possible in our database. We make a concerted effort to recover “lost” records, which usually have very little information in them. Those lost records are submitted to a data cleansing service, who provides us with an email or physical address that is likely to belong to that record.
Rarely, the match is incorrect. We use the “match” address for this one specific program to confirm whether it is correct, but it is not entered into the designated record in our database unless the individual responds to confirm that the information is correct. We are sorry for any confusion our communication caused and we will not contact you again.
I received an email/postcard but I have never provided you with my address or email. How did you get it?
As part of an alumni program we are currently conducting in conjunction with Publishing Concepts (PCI), we are updating contact information for as many records as possible in our database. We make a concerted effort to recover “lost” records, which usually have very little information in them, and to simply gather the most up-to-date information for every alumnus/alumna. Our records are submitted to a data cleansing service, who provides us with an email or physical address that is likely to belong to each individual. If you have a specific email or physical address at which you prefer to be contacted, we are happy to update our records accordingly. We want to communicate with you in the ways and at the locations you are most comfortable with.
Why is there not an online option for this?
We partnered with Publishing Concepts (PCI) on this program because they are a 100-year-old family-owned business that each year works with hundreds of colleges and universities, high schools, Greek organizations, and military and veteran associations. As part of their process, they update tens of thousands of records each month. It may seem surprising, but they are constantly testing the best communication times and methods to accomplish all the goals set for this program, and they have consistently found that sending a series of postcards and emails encouraging alumni to contact them by phone produces the most—and the most accurate—updates. Please take a few moments to participate! The average call is 5-6 minutes, so it doesn’t take long.
Where is my order? Why does it take so long?
The publication we are producing with Publishing Concepts (PCI) takes roughly 14 months to complete, with the initial six months spent contacting all alumni and updating or verifying their record, and the remaining six to eight months spent in editing, proofing and printing. These are custom products, produced only as part of this program.
