John joined the Graduate Counseling Department in 2013 as an associate professor. He holds credentials in Tennessee as a licensed marriage & family therapist (LMFT) and as a licensed professional counselor-mental health service provider (LPC-MHSP). He serves individuals, couples and families in his private practice offices located in Brentwood and at Northside Church of Christ in North Nashville. He is also a national certified counselor (NCC) and a board-certified telemental health provider (BC-TMH). He serves as a supervisor for post-master's licensure-seeking counselors; teaches the Introduction to Psychological Research courses for the graduate counseling programs; and teaches Ph.D.-level courses in Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods, Statistical Analysis, Psychological Testing and Technology and Teaching for Counselor Educators. He serves as a dissertation chair and on dissertation committees for Ph.D. students, and he provides mentorship for student research projects. John loves camping, hiking, biking and spending time with his family, which includes his wife of 40 years, his three children and three lovely granddaughters.
