Jon Burch's relationship with Trevecca spans several decades as a student-athlete, alumnus, professor, administrator and NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR), and in fall 2026 he was named Trevecca’s 14th athletic director in preparation for the summer 2027 retirement of Mark Elliott.
A United States Navy veteran, Jon attended Trevecca and was a member of the Trojan men's basketball program under Trevecca Hall of Fame coach Frank Wilson. He later returned to the University and built a career centered on teaching, leadership and organizational effectiveness. He has authored two books: “So, You Want to be a Leader…Let the Journey Begin” and “The Gym Rat’s Guide to Championship Living.”
He earned his doctorate from Trevecca and served for 26 years as a professor of management and leadership in the Skinner School of Business, teaching at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels. During that time, he also served as the director of graduate management programs.
Most recently, he has worked with Athletic Director Mark Elliott, the athletic leadership team and TNU coaches to strengthen the connection between academics and athletics and support student-athlete success.
Dr. Burch is married to Dr. Mindy Burch. They have three children and reside in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee.
