Summary

Keeps premises of buildings in clean and orderly condition. The first point of contact for customers and/or vendors is when a supervisor or site manager is not available.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
  • Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
  • Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor.
  • Calls in repair requests for equipment as needed.
  • Stocking janitorial chemicals, consumables, paper products etc.
  • Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture.
  • Dusts furniture and equipment.
  • Polishes metalwork.
  • Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork.
  • Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
  • Empties wastebaskets and empties and cleans the can.
  • Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Replenishes bathroom supplies.
  • 1st line of communication with customer onsite, point of contact for vendor services, calling in equipment repairs, and building maintenance repairs.
  • Transports small equipment or tools between departments.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Team lifting is encouraged for heavier objects.

Qualifications

  • Education and/or Experience - High school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
