Position Summary

The social media strategist will use a strong understanding of platforms, audiences, trends and analytics to establish effective strategies for the University’s social media outlets. This position will play a key role in enhancing the university's online presence, engaging with members of the Trevecca’s community and promoting the institution’s mission and values.

Typical Tasks For the Marketing Director:

  • Develop and oversee comprehensive social media strategies aligned with the University brand and its marketing and communication objectives.
  • Direct the creation of engaging, appropriate content for all the institution’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok and emerging platforms.
  • Oversee, train and mentor a team of student workers responsible for creating and curating content, scheduling posts and engaging with followers.
  • Assist with planning, preparation and taking the lead on time-sensitive monitoring and posting duties, as a member of Trevecca’s crisis communication response team.
  • Serve as a social media ambassador internally and externally for the University, representing Trevecca and the marketing team in a professional and positive manner online.
  • Monitor social media channels for trends, news and conversations relevant to the University, and capitalize on opportunities for engagement and outreach.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to ensure brand consistency across all social media channels.
  • Track, analyze and report on key social media performance metrics, using them to make informed decisions and present actionable data to the Marketing team and university leaders.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, alumni and community partners, to amplify the university's message and reach.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Marketing Director Profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations or a related field
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, algorithms and trends
  • Excellent communication skills, with an eye for detail and creativity
  • Proficiency in social media analytics tools and platforms
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in social media management and/or higher education preferred
  • Leadership skills with experience in managing and mentoring a team preferred
