Overall Responsibilities
Provides support in areas of server hardware, server software, and connecting technologies. You will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, and optimizing performance to meet our operational needs. This is a hybrid role allowing flexibility to work from home but with a requirement to be on site regularly and when needed. The Systems/Network Administrator position will be a regular full-time 12-month yearly function which reports to the CIO.
Key Areas of Responsibility
(includes, but not limited to the following)
- Work in conjunction with management, employees, students, and vendors to provide technical support in the areas of server hardware, server software, and connecting technologies to meet business needs
- Install, configure, and support our local area network (LAN), wireless network (WLAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot problems, and ensure network security.
- Work closely with the internal IT staff, responsible for handling a queue of system support-related tickets while assisting with a variety of other projects
- Maintain and improve systems related to Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, anti-virus solution(s), database management, device/system monitoring, network printing and reporting, and web administration
- Create and maintain server systems within a VMware vSphere virtual environment
- Monitor and manage SAN and NAS shared storage
- Maintain backup system
- Upgrade systems and Network devices by conferring with vendors and services; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements and new software
- Audit and remediate security issues and maintain server and network security
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for all areas of responsibility
- Provide after-hours support as needed
Qualifications
- A personal commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and to the mission and core values of the Church of the Nazarene including service to others, community, and diversity
- Hands-on experience with networking hardware including servers, storage, routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Excellent customer services skills
- Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies
- Excellent organizational, technical and analysis skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, infrequently
Experience
- Minimum two years of experience as a Systems or Network Administrator
