Back Home to the Hill

It’s being together that makes Trevecca a true community, not just a college campus. As we return to the Hill, we’re grateful to reclaim an in-person Trevecca experience for our traditional students while keeping our campus environment as safe as possible.

The following guidelines are subject to change as we continue to assess circumstances and guidance at the local and national levels.

Requirement Unvaccinated Vaccinated *
Test to Return to Campus

Students will be required to submit a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or Rapid Antigen) prior to returning to campus

If positive within the last 90 days, should send results to clinic@trevecca.edu.

Students will NOT be required to submit a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or Rapid Antigen) prior to returning to campus

Send vaccination card to clinic@trevecca.edu if have not already done so

Quarantine

If exposed to someone testing positive for COVID-19, will be required to quarantine for a minimum of 5 days

  • Will need to return home or arrange for alternate off-campus housing

Must have a PCR test on day 5

  • If quarantining locally can be performed by TNU Clinic
  • At-home PCR test can be provided prior to departure to quarantine location

If exposed to someone testing positive for COVID-19, NOT required to quarantine

Must have a PCR test on day 5 which can be performed by TNU Clinic

Student Athletes

Required to continue with weekly surveillance testing

Will not be required to undergo weekly surveillance testing

* (2 doses Moderna or Pfizer, 1 dose of Johnson & Johnson)

Anyone, regardless of vaccination status, who tests positive will be required to isolate for a minimum of 5 days. While breakthrough COVID-19 cases can occur in those who have been vaccinated, it is well demonstrated that those who are vaccinated typically experience more mild illness without severe complications.

Spring 2022 Guidelines

Masking policy

Effective March 14, face coverings are optional in all campus settings. Good judgment is encouraged at densely populated gatherings. Based on campus trends, CDC guidance and COVID-19 activity in the Nashville area, Trevecca will continue to monitor conditions and adjust masking requirements as needed.

Vaccine information

Widely available vaccines have allowed TNU to plan our spring 2022 experience. While vaccination is not mandated as a condition of attendance, all members of the campus community are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated. The COVID-19 vaccine is readily available for free at our clinic and a variety of different locations throughout the nation. More information about the vaccine and vaccination locations can be found here. Feel free to reach out to our university clinic with any questions about vaccine options. Additional COVID-19 information can be found on our COVID Education Team web page, or you can email covideducationteam@trevecca.edu with any questions related to COVID-19 and/or vaccinations.

Quarantine and isolation

For spring 2022, individuals required to isolate or quarantine will be expected to return to their homes or legal residences. For campus residents that are unable to return home, the university will partner with students as we are able to provide isolation and quarantine solutions. This year, in light of an exciting record enrollment, we have extremely limited space on campus for isolation and quarantine lodging. The university cannot guarantee isolation or quarantine space availability. Please be proactive in making a plan of what you will do for lodging and meals if you are expected to quarantine or isolate this upcoming semester.

Please consider these possibilities, along with the other health and safety benefits of being vaccinated, as you prepare to return to campus in the spring.  All individuals are required to isolate if they contract COVID-19.

Those who test positive for COVID-19 will be required to isolate for at least 5 days following symptom onset or if asymptomatic, following the positive test. The individual should report their positive test to the TNU clinic as soon as possible either by email or by phone 615-248-1261. The isolated individual will then be contacted by the TNU contact tracing team to identify any members of the University community who have been exposed.

If identified as a close contact (less than 6 ft. for more than 15 minutes) of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, an individual will need to quarantine for 5 days. Individuals who become aware of COVID-19 exposure should notify TNU clinic as soon as possible either by email or by phone 615-248-1261.  The quarantined individual must obtain a negative PCR performed on or after day 5 and submit to the TNU Clinic prior to return to campus. Self-test PCR tests will be provided at no cost to the individual upon notification of the need to quarantine.

Exposed individuals who have completed their initial COVID-19 vaccination series (2 doses of Moderna or Pfizer or one dose of Johnson & Johnson) will be exempt from quarantine, but will be expected to coordinate with the TNU Clinic for post-exposure testing on or after day 5 of exposure. COVID-19 boosters continue to be strongly recommended for prevention of severe COVID-19 disease and to help decrease transmission, however boosters will no longer be a requirement for quarantine exemption.

For individuals residing with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19  (household contacts) and the positive-tested person is not able to completely isolate, those exposed will need to quarantine for 10 days (case’s (minimum) 5-day isolation period plus an additional 5 days.) Complete isolation is defined as no contact with the positive individual nor utilization of shared, communal spaces (i.e., kitchen, living room, bathroom, etc).

After completion of isolation or quarantine, individuals will need to be cleared by the TNU clinic prior to returning to normal campus activities.
