What to Expect
This program mirrors the curriculum of Trevecca’s face-to-face four-year BSN degree program, utilizing the same coursework broken into two parts: the ASN and BSN.
Students entering the ASN online hybrid program can expect a six-semester journey that blends general education and core nursing courses with real-world clinical training. Courses include foundational science and psychology, pharmacology, adult health, obstetrics, mental health, pediatrics, assessment and a capstone practicum. Graduates of this phase are eligible to take the NCLEX and become licensed registered nurses in Tennessee. The flexibility of the online hybrid format allows students to balance coursework with work, family and other responsibilities, making the program especially accessible for working adults and professionals who want to change careers.
After earning an ASN degree, taking the NCLEX, and obtaining a Registered Nursing License, those who choose to advance to the BSN program, may take the final three semesters to expand their competencies in areas like leadership, critical care, research and community health as well as general education courses to meet the criteria for a bachelor’s degree. These advanced courses equip nurses with the skills needed for specialized practice and leadership roles in the healthcare system. Students will also deepen their understanding of healthcare policy and evidence-based nursing practices. This comprehensive program supports both immediate entry into the field of nursing and long-term career growth.

This program leads to professional licensure in the state of Tennessee. Courses that discuss professional licensure include:
- NRS 3002 Foundations course discusses professional licensure and NCLEX testing.
- NRS 4006 Senior Practicum and Capstone provides full details of professional licensure and taking the NCLEX examination.
If a student chooses to apply for a license in another state, they may do so. This process is explained in NUR 4006 and through information provided on all state websites related to licensure application. Tennessee students who pass the NCLEX exam are automatically issued a Compact License allowing them to work in all states that recognize this agreement.
